40,000 Pack Square For Annual Jamboree |
|||||
|
Over 40,000 enthusiastic country music fans and arts and crafts lookers and buyers packed court square Saturday at the third annual Folk and Old-Time Country Fiddler's Jamboree... The crowd of toe-tapping, hand-slapping, sun-drenched Jamboree visitors reached 30,000 by mid-afternoon, and by 10 o'clock had climbed to 40,000 in the cool and shade of nightfall. At sunup Sun- day several thousand hoarse, weary, but still enthusiastic fiddling fans were still on hand at the finale of the 20 hours music marathon. |
RICK NORTON of Murfreesboro, shown with official
Jamboree secretary Linda Pack, who presented both checks and winner's plaques to all winners.
Young Norton accomplished the hitherto unaccomplishable feat of winning three first places at
the Jamboree, coming out on top in mandolin, guitar and dobro guitar. This is a feat his
children and grandchildren can talk about for years to come.Photo by Bratten's Studio. |
